About Róisín

Hola! I'm Róisín, I am a 22 year old student who has been living in Spain and teaching Spanish for 5 years!

I have taught Spanish to groups in private language academies and privately through grinds and tutoring. This includes all ages and abilities from complete beginners, primary school children, Junior/Leaving Cert students, working professionals, etc etc.

I have been studying Spanish for nine years. After studying Spanish for the Leaving Cert, I continued to study Hispanic and Italian studies in UCC. This involves studying Spanish linguistics, and Hispanic culture regarding literature, cinema, history..

I have also lived in Spain for years.. I lived in Madrid with a host family and friends, for two years, a constant immersion. I also lived in a small village in the south of Spain for two years where I taught in a language school and learned all the customs and traditions of rural Spanish life! Furthermore, I spent a year travelling Spain where I got to put my language to practice as I travelled north->south!

About the lesson

Leaving Certificate students:
As a past LC student, the exam awards students who present a wide knowledge of vocab on various current affairs and topical issues. We will improve vocab through exposure to newspaper articles, stories, podcasts, etc. An emphasis is placed on constant immersion of oral work and familiarity. Furthermore, past papers and StudyClix are consistently used to improve the various sections including dialogue, diary entry, etc. Notes on grammar and grammatical exercises will also be provided and repeated.

Beginners:
An introduction to the language will be provided primarily through oral practice. Notes will be provided to accompany in-class practice/at home learning. We will start with basics for living in Spain including greetings, ordering in bars/restaurants, asking for help, directions, etc.

Intermediate:
We will improve Spanish proficiency through exposure to Spanish media and level-based exercises. We will focus on improving fluency in conversation, grammatical exercises, and written and reading ability.
