About Janna

Hi! I’m Janna. Originally from Colombia, I’ve been living in Canada for the past three years, and I’m passionate about sharing my language and culture with others. Growing up in a Spanish-speaking country gave me an appreciation for the richness of the language, and moving to an English/French-speaking country highlighted just how valuable that knowledge can be.

My goal as a tutor is to help others experience the joy of connecting through language. I’ve seen how understanding Spanish opens doors—not just for travel or work but for building friendships and embracing a new perspective. I love guiding my students on their language journey, from those first tricky words to the confidence of holding a conversation.

Teaching isn’t just about grammar for me; it’s about creating a warm, encouraging environment where learning feels natural and enjoyable. I tailor each lesson to your pace and goals, and together, we’ll make Spanish a meaningful and engaging part of your life.

About the lesson

Teaching Approach and Knowledge Sharing

As a native Spanish speaker, I believe in a warm, immersive approach to teaching. I combine conversation practice with structured exercises to help you think and speak naturally in Spanish. By focusing on real-life situations, I tailor each lesson to your needs, whether you want to travel, work, or simply enjoy Spanish media.

Methodology and Techniques

I use a blend of grammar fundamentals, vocabulary building, and interactive dialogues. Each lesson emphasizes pronunciation, listening comprehension, and conversation skills, allowing you to build confidence while speaking. I integrate multimedia, from videos to short stories, to make learning both effective and enjoyable.

A Typical Lesson Plan

Warm-up Conversation: Briefly chat to practice past material and build fluency.
New Vocabulary & Grammar: Introduce and practice essential new terms and sentence structures.
Listening & Speaking Practice: Role-play real-life scenarios, focusing on practical use.
Interactive Exercises: Reinforce the day's lesson through targeted exercises.
Recap & Q&A: Review key points and address any lingering questions.
What Sets Me Apart

I bring a cultural perspective, adding depth to the language through context, idioms, and cultural insights. I’m passionate about making learning fun and approachable, adapting each lesson to your unique goals and interests.

Who These Lessons Are For
