About Juan Jesus

¡Hola! I’m a Mexican sociologist with a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, and I’m passionate about teaching and learning languages. With over six years of experience teaching Spanish and Literature, I’ve worked with middle school, high school, and adult learners — helping each student grow in confidence and fluency.

As someone who’s currently learning Italian myself, I know the joys and challenges of learning a new language. That’s why my lessons are patient, supportive, and tailored to your needs.

I can teach online (Any location), or presential in any public space in Edinburgh.

About the lesson

What I offer:

- Personalized lessons for all levels (beginners to advanced).

- A focus on communication, culture, and practical language use.

- Academic support (essays, literature, exam prep) if needed.

- Fun, engaging exercises to track your progress.

- Online or in-person lessons in Edinburgh (in public spaces).

Outside teaching, I love reading, writing, and exploring castles across Scotland — and I’d love to help you open new doors through Spanish!

- FAQ -

¿How do I request a lesson? ¿Does it include the free 30 min. lesson?
- First message me so we can discuss when can you start your learning journey with me. You'll have a 30 min. assessment lesson where we can determine your Spanish level (don't worry if you don't know anything yet!) and set your goals. I do this in order to give an estimate number of lessons that you may require, so you won't be paying definetively but based on your goals.

¿Can we meet face to face in a coffee shop/library/park/quiet place outside?
- Of course, I can meet you within Edinburgh city limits. I can also travel by train but no more than an hour from Edinburgh, this may incur in travel expenses. Online sessions are recommended if you're too far away from Edinburgh.

¿What's your learning method? ¿How do I know your lessons will help me?
- I try to design my lessons according to the individual/person rather than an already structured program. As everyone learns in different ways, I readjust the lessons based in two things: your current knowledge and your goals. You'll know if this works for you from our first session, remember that you can take the free of charge 30 minutes lessons so you can decide for yourself if I'm the right tutor for you!

¿Do you offer other learning services?
- I can help you develop your pronunciation while speaking/reading; I can proofread your Spanish texts and also translate documents; and offer you tips for your travels to Spanish speaking countries.

Lessons at £18/hour — an affordable way to learn Spanish with a qualified, experienced teacher.

Outside Edinburgh sessions (up to 1 hour by train) may incur in travel expenses.

Translating and proofreading depends on the number of pages/words per document. Normally 1 hour of work is charged as £18/hour.
