About Jawaid

My name is Jawaid, and I look forward to teaching you. I currently reside in my home country of Pakistan, but I've also lived in the United States, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Sudan for several years apiece. I hold a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business from a university located in New York.

About the lesson

As my native tongue, Urdu comes naturally to me, and I have experience teaching conversational as well as written Urdu and English to adults. I am patient and encouraging with my students, ensuring I adapt to their needs and provide them with the knowledge and confidence required to speak a foreign language with ease. Don't worry about making mistakes when learning with me: I will always guide you towards improvement.
I provide conversational as well as reading/writing courses in Urdu. If you have any topics of interest, please go ahead and suggest them, and I will adjust my course to fit them in. Alternatively, I use scenarios of my own in order to teach, which include business settings, shopping, dining, traveling etc. There's an immense difference between learning a language and learning to speak it confidently, and I intend to help you bridge that gap and overcome your hesitation.

It was our first lesson today. We studied the Urdu alphabet shortly and then moved to make words using them. We also learned the words for colors and some meeting/greeting words and phrases.

It was great to meet you Amar and I am quite impressed with your pronunciation of the Urdu words. You can also read at the basic level therefore regular practice of reading and conversating generally will enhance your vocabulary and the ability to read well. Both these put together will make you a fluent Urdu speaker, in sha Allah.

Ustadh Jawaid is a great teacher and instructor. He really makes sure to give you a chance to attempt to speak and read on your own and then helps to fix the mistakes. He is always ready with practice materials for urdu/hindi and is very patient with students. I highly recommend him based on my own experience with him as my tutor! After only a few lessons I already noticed improvement with my urdu/hindi skills!

I've seen him work behind the scenes, and he is exceptionally dedicated to his students. Not only does he make sure he has the right materials to guide a student based on their individual skill level, but he also helps them build confidence in their speech by encouraging them to converse regularly with him.
