About Evan

I am a UK-born native, however, I now live in Brazil near Rio de Janeiro in a city called Teresópolis, where I run a Kung Fu school. I have studied Martial Arts since my adolescence, at one time competing regularly in full contact competition. In the process of time, I became a coach and mentor in addition to working in private security and counter-surveillance for large companies and high-net-worth individuals in England and the United States. As I matured and began to desire more peace in my life, I discovered and developed a love for the art of Tai Chi, which despite having application for Self-Defence has its main focus directed towards the balance of body, mind and spirit in order to achieve your optimum physical condition, mental health and increase longevity. I now have more than 20 years' experience practising and teaching Tai Chi. The benefits are incredible, it really changed and enriched my life and I take pleasure in passing this knowledge on to others. The quality and clarity of instruction I offer is as I wish I could have received from the oriental masters I persevered with in my early days and consider it to be the best to be found anywhere.

About the lesson

With me, your understanding of the principles and personal progress is the goal. The initial period of instruction is broken down into 12 easy to follow lessons. In addition to the face-to-face instruction, you will receive a weekly email for you to gain understanding of the theory behind the physical practice, including a 7-part introduction to Zen meditation and video materials for you to practise by yourself in between our classes.

Having practiced Tai Ji Quan before with Asian instructors. I highly recommend Sifu Evan as the best western teacher I have encountered. He has excellent communication skills, a wealth of authentic knowledge in both Yang and Chen style and is able to demystify the art answering all of my questions. But what I found really unique is his approach to teaching. He presents in a completely structured course format with clear progression, outcome goals and supplementary materials which really enhance your experience. 10/10
