About Megan
I am a published author from East Texas with a passion for both storytelling and teaching. Over the years, I’ve written and published across multiple genres — from romance and thrillers to young adult and literary fiction. My experience in publishing has given me not only strong technical skills but also a deep understanding of the creative process, from that first spark of an idea to a polished, professional manuscript. As a tutor, I bring that real-world perspective into my lessons. I know what it feels like to face a blank page, to struggle with structure, or to wonder if your writing is “good enough.” That’s why my teaching style is encouraging, approachable, and practical. I meet students where they are, giving them the tools, feedback, and confidence they need to grow. Whether you’re a student aiming to strengthen academic writing, an aspiring author chasing your first draft, or an adult simply wanting to express yourself better, I’m here to guide you with patience, insight, and professionalism. With me, you’ll not only improve your writing — you’ll learn to love the process.

As a published author, I believe writing should be both a skill and an art. My approach is hands-on and tailored to each student’s needs. I break down writing into clear, achievable steps — from brainstorming and structuring ideas, to strengthening grammar and style, to refining voice and flow. I encourage students to write during lessons, not just listen, so they leave each session with something tangible they’ve created or improved.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Warm-up (5–10 min): Short writing prompt or discussion to spark creativity and focus.
Core Lesson (30–40 min): Guided exercises, feedback on assignments, or instruction in specific areas (plot, character development, essay structure, clarity, grammar, etc.).
Feedback & Reflection (10–15 min): Constructive critique with actionable next steps.
Takeaway Assignment: A writing exercise or revision task to practice until the next session.
Every lesson is flexible, adjusting to student goals — whether polishing an essay, working on a story, or strengthening overall writing skills.
What Sets Me Apart
I bring the perspective of someone who has gone through the entire writing and publishing journey. I understand both the creative struggles and the technical challenges of writing. My feedback is honest but encouraging, helping students build confidence in their voice while also improving the mechanics of their craft. I also share real-world insights about storytelling, editing, and publishing that most tutors cannot provide.
Who My Lessons Are For
Middle & High School Students: Academic essays, creative writing projects, confidence in English classes.
College Students: Research papers, advanced writing assignments, thesis support.
Aspiring Authors: Short stories, novels, poetry, or nonfiction — guidance from brainstorming to finished drafts.
No matter the level, my lessons are designed to meet students where they are — building skills step by step while keeping writing engaging and rewarding.
