About Jon

As a Contemporary Gospel recording artist, I have been given the privilege to record and release 10 solo albums that rendered 22 top ten radio hits, 9 number 1 songs, and an "Album of the Year." One was featured in Time/Life's publication of "The 100 Greatest Christian Albums." I give all the credit to God, as He gave me the gifts, ability, and opportunity to do so. I've collaborated with Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, MC Hammer and many others. I attribute my vocal success to two things: 1. My natural God-given gift, and 2. My mastery of the use of my "Head-voice," using a technique that I've taught to many, and I can teach you.

About the lesson

Lesson 1. (FREE) M first goal is to identify who you are as a vocalist and where you would like to go, evaluating your vocal range, style, and current methodology. This will help me to determine what parts of my lessons I will need to put more priority and emphasis on. I will organize a file for you where I can put my current and future notes that have the right contact information so that we can communicate smoothly.

Lesson 2. Chest Voice and Head Voice. In this lesson, you will learn what your chest voice is and what your head voice is. It's not falsetto, and so, like your chest voice, the sound of your head voice is controlled much the same way. The emphasis will be on you recognizing the difference between the two, how they feel physically different, and the point at which you need to shift from your chest voice to your head voice. You already know what it feels like to sing from your chest, and that’s good because that’s the beginning and the end of your natural range. In this lesson, you will also learn to identify your head voice from your chest voice, along with specific exercises that will help you understand the difference.

Lesson 3. Chest Voice, Head Voice, and How to Use Them. In this lesson, you will learn what’s called the "Dumb Sound." Sound crazy? Well, believe it or not, it is important to learn because it teaches you how to pronounce your vowels as you sing, and is necessary knowledge to have if your concern is increasing your vocal range and reducing vocal fatigue and wear and tear. Furthermore, you will learn to connect your head voice to your chest voice within a song by using two using 2 specific exercises. We will practice where you will need to shift from your chest voice to your head voice.

Lesson 4: Speech Level. This is where you will learn to seamlessly connect where your chest voice ends and where your head voice begins so that the two connect seamlessly and evenly as one voice. You will learn to keep all of your notes at the same level so that when you have to push a note (put some funk in it), you learn to do so all at “Speech Level.” This is where you will be able to sing with ease, anytime, anywhere, tired, or feeling like a million bucks, with little or no strain on your vocal chords. We will quickly refresh lesson 3 and go into speech-level singing. At the conclusion of lesson 4, I will create custom piano scales in the form of MP3s to assist you in your practice. These will be custom-made for your voice and range, and downloadable from a drive once you receive a notice to your email from me, which will contain a link where you will be able to download them.

Once you receive your practice MP3s, practice what you’ve learned daily for two weeks, and if you choose to, book Lesson 5 for a final follow-up session (Recommended)

Lesson 5: This is a follow-up lesson to go over what you've learned and to make sure that you are doing your exercises and warm-ups correctly. The truth is that one day, it will just all click. There is no other way to say it. It will just click, and once it does, you won't need me or anyone else at that point. It just becomes the way you sing. You will now possess the same vocal secrets of people like Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, and just about every great Pop music singer you can think of.
