About Mali

Hi! I’m a violin tutor with over 8 years of experience and a Licentiate of Music in Violin. My approach to teaching is holistic and therapeutic, focusing on self-expression, emotional release, and musical storytelling. I believe the violin is more than an instrument—it’s a tool to connect with your inner voice. In my lessons, I use improvisation, journaling, and soundscape creation to guide students through personal growth and creativity. I work with neurodiverse learners, trauma survivors, and adult students seeking healing through music. Each lesson is tailored to the individual, creating a safe and supportive space to explore emotions and ideas through sound. Students learn technique, repertoire, and theory alongside methods that encourage reflection and emotional exploration. Music becomes a way to process feelings, tell stories, and express what words cannot. I emphasize mindfulness, listening, and authentic expression, helping learners build confidence and connection with themselves. The goal is to make violin learning meaningful, restorative, and inspiring. I celebrate each student’s progress, no matter how small. Together, we discover the violin as a powerful tool for emotional expression, creativity, and personal growth.

About the lesson

I teach violin in a way that builds both skill and confidence. Lessons focus on technique-building, ear training, and performance skills, helping students play accurately and expressively. I also emphasize emotional expression, showing how music can convey feelings and tell stories.

Each lesson is personalized to match the student’s goals and interests. I guide learners through step-by-step exercises, repertoire practice, and performance tips. For those drawn to theatre or worship music, I provide guidance to bring pieces to life with passion and confidence.

I use a mix of classical training, improvisation, and creative exercises to make learning engaging and meaningful. Students develop strong technique, a keen ear for music, and the ability to perform comfortably in front of others. Mistakes are treated as learning opportunities, and I provide continuous encouragement and feedback.

I also incorporate musical theory and listening exercises to strengthen understanding and interpretation. My goal is to help students feel confident, inspired, and capable of playing any style they love. Together, we make violin learning enjoyable, expressive, and rewarding.
