About Mackenzie
"I am a violin tutor with 5 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Orchestral Studies with a focus on Violin. My classical training has given me a strong foundation that I enjoy sharing with students of all ages. I believe every learner can develop both skill and confidence with the right guidance.
My lessons focus on bowing precision, vibrato control, phrasing, and stylistic interpretation. I help students understand not only how to play the notes but also how to bring music to life with expression. Every lesson is adjusted to match your current level and personal goals.
I also provide guidance for ABRSM and Trinity examinations with structured preparation and practical advice. Students interested in ensemble playing receive orchestral coaching to improve listening, timing, and teamwork. I once worked with a student who felt unsure about performing in a school orchestra, and after regular practice, they became one of the most confident players in their section.
Watching students grow into expressive and capable musicians is the most rewarding part of teaching. I aim to create lessons that are supportive, engaging, and enjoyable from the very beginning. Whether you are learning for exams, performances, or personal enjoyment, I will help you develop strong technique and musical confidence."

"I believe the best violin lessons encourage curiosity and allow students to discover music through their own experiences. Every lesson includes opportunities to experiment with sound while building strong technical skills. Learning becomes more enjoyable when students feel free to ask questions and explore new ideas.
We use sound exploration, musical games, improvisation exercises, and ear and eye coordination activities to make each lesson engaging. I teach open string resonance, fingerboard mapping, listening skills, rhythm, bow control, and posture as part of a balanced learning process. These activities help students understand the instrument instead of simply memorizing notes.
Some students enjoy finding solutions on their own, and I support that by giving simple challenges and guiding them when needed. Others connect deeply with music through emotion, so I encourage expressive playing and thoughtful interpretation. I have also taught students who loved creating short melodies, and those creative moments often helped them become more confident performers.
Regular feedback keeps progress clear without making lessons feel stressful. I encourage careful listening because it is one of the most valuable skills a violinist can develop. Every lesson is planned to help you grow with confidence while enjoying the learning process. My goal is to help you become an expressive violinist with strong technique, musical understanding, and the confidence to perform in any setting."
