About Amanda
I’m Amanda, an American French speaker who learned French largely on my own before going on to study in Paris and Montpellier. I also studied French at Arizona State University while serving as Vice President of ASU’s French Club.
I went on to teach at The French American School of Arizona as well as offering private lessons online and in person.
Outside of French, I’m a mom, content creator, and humanitarian. I love pop culture, music, travel, and finding creative ways to connect with people, which definitely spills over into the way I teach.
Learning French changed my life and gave me experiences I never would have had otherwise. I want my students to discover that same connection to the language, without feeling like they’re back in a boring classroom.

I learned French as an adult English speaker, so I teach it from the perspective of someone who had to figure out what actually makes it click.
My lessons use American pop culture, movies, music, TV, celebrities, and everyday situations to use things that are already familiar to you to make French memorable. Instead of translating random sentences or sitting through French news clips, we might use a scene from your favorite show to learn past tense, translate a song you already know, or talk about celebrity drama to practice conversation.
You’ll still learn the grammar and vocabulary; you’ll just learn it through things you already understand and actually care about. French doesn’t have to feel like French class.
My lessons are designed for beginner and intermediate French learners, whether you’re learning from scratch, taking French in school or college and need extra help, preparing for a trip, or you’ve studied before but still struggle to actually speak and understand French.

I have ADHD and every single learning method I'd tried to learn French legitimately bored me and I couldn't focus. Amanda actually had experience teaching students with neurodivergency both professionally and personally and tailored our lesson accordingly using methods that worked for my brain and things I could hyperfocus on. I was blown away. I've learned so much and get so excited for every lesson. Five stars all the way! Love her!
I'd always had an interest in learning French and got a nudge when I needed to pass the DELF for a work promotion. I tried the apps, tried to take some French classes, and tried six different tutors. I dreaded every session to the point of starting to dislike the language altogether and feeling like I literally could not learn it. I scheduled a session with Amanda not having very high hopes, but I could tell within ten minutes that she was different. We used my favorite show (Breaking Bad) to learn. Every other teacher had wanted to talk about the weather, news (I hate the news!), and do verb drills. Amanda never did that! Not only did I pass my DELF and get the promotion, but we kept doing sessions (though fewer now) and I was able to have little conversations after a couple of months! Amanda was a GAME CHANGER! Highly recommend.
Amanda helped my teenage son ace his high school French class. He enjoyed working with her so much, they do ongoing lessons so he can keep learning even though he graduated already!
