About Melissa
I have been teaching in some form or another for 30 years. In addition, I lived overseas for almost a decade. I have twin teenage girls which has helped me understand that people learn differently and you need to adapt to the learner.

My teaching style is quite unique. I believe learning is best done by doing. While it is important to understand the concept and get that grade you want, knowing how that concept applies in the real world is key. The outdoors provides chances to learn. Let's go find tree leaves and talk about symmetry, or explore the bayou and discuss historical events or even visit the Cistern and understand sound waves. Learning should be fun! Not mundane and boring!
