About Maria
I graduated from the University of Stellenbosch with an Honours Degree in Psychology, and prior to that, a Bachelor’s Degree with Public Development Management & Political Science as main subjects. Subsequently, I studied towards my Masters’ Degree in Counselling Psychology and completed my internship with distinction.
I have facilitated and assessed learning within various fields of practice, including the fields of Higher Education and Sterile Pharmaceutical Manufacturing. I have also within the field of Psychology and worked as an Intern Psychology Student at a private psychiatric hospital.
Over the years, I have completed a wide range of additional courses, including Conduct Outcomes-Based Assessment, Facilitate Learning and Conduct Moderation of Outcomes-Based Assessment.
I am passionate about teaching and learning and thoroughly enjoy working in the field of education and training. I firmly believe that learning is a life-long process and that one is never too old to learn.

My teaching method allows a student to explore a topic and to identify concepts that he / she struggle with. I explain the concepts and provide opportunities for the student to ask questions during our discussion. Subsequently, I supply the student with a few problems that he / she work through on their own. During this process, I guide the student in order to assist with any difficulties that he / she may be struggling with. Finally, I provide an assessment that will give feedback to the learner and myself as teacher. Practical examples are utilised during the course of the lesson to ensure that the student is able to implement what they have learnt in practice.
I am proficient in both English and Afrikaans. My lessons are aimed at anyone who wants to learn more about Psychology, Social Sciences, English, Academic writing and Digital Literacy.
