I am an experienced teacher who has taught Learning Support (LS), Special Educational Needs (SEN) and English As and Additional Language (EAL) , Primary and Secondary curriculums and learning support. I have 23 years experience and have taught as an online tutor for 4 years too.
I have taught at all levels from early years through to IGCSE, and taught SEN and EAL pupils in mainstream and special settings too. My teaching is very much student centred and I teach at the pace the student learns best at - I am not pushy and I allow time for the student to develop confidence from my empathetic approach, which is why I have such great feedback from parents and students.
I hold masters degrees in Special Education and Inclusion and have undertaken much practitioner research - relating my academic reading to my work situations, so that I have a solid basis of understanding the effects of the approaches and materials I use for teaching and learning.
Lessons usually begin with a welcome chat and a few minor conversational details just as you would expect to hear from a partner or parents. We then get down t the business of teaching and learning. I am not a great believer in additional homework, but I may require some over learning , particularly when teaching vocabulary or reading.
I also have several Chinese teachers working for me and I am able to accommodate such requests for online teaching of Mandarin Chinese too.
When you learn with me you get all the advice and experience that has seen me present at conferences in Asia and Europe on LS/SEN and EAL teaching and the knowledge that I am using materials and approaches that have a sound underpinning from my own practitioner research.

Andy is such a kind genuine person and a great educator in and out of the school system. I have known him for years and watched all the hard work he put in to education and teaching youngsters . He recognised in my son things I hadn't recognised myself but once Andy pointed it out to me I knew what to do and how to do it.
Andy is committed to young people and raising their experience and aspirations in life. He is always prepared to help and takes time to make sure that children and young people get the best possible benefits. Andy has an open and very honest approach with people, he has compassion and understanding and the quality, ability and integrity needed to support children and young people to achieve through developing their strengths and interests and channeling their energies into positive life experiences, which promotes their self belief and their desire to learn and achieve.
Andy is probably one of the most qualified instructors I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He is passionate about his profession and strives to provide the highest quality lessons for his students.
Andy is an amazing teacher who looks at every child’s needs and will push them all to the best to reach their goals. He does his job because he cares about the kids and understands that every child is different.
We are in class for 30 minutes a day (except on Fridays). This model does not burden children's learning, it is easy to ensure class time, and daily learning allows children to progress step by step, earning every day. Andy's textbook is Oxford's school-age children's textbook, with two books, a textbook, and an activity book. Covers a wide range of knowledge, first completed textbooks, and then completed the lesson lesson. My kids like Andy very much and they always laugh and talk in class. From time to time, Andy encourages children to be confident. Therefore, I also recommend to friends around, hoping to help their children improve their English.
I had the pleasure of working with Andy in London, when he was our school's SENCO. The children and parents loved him for his calm, professional manner and great sense of humour! Andy is so passionate about children receiving an excellent all round education. He delivered staff training sessions which were so informative, as he has a wealth of knowledge and understanding about how children learn. We conducted learning walks together, hearing the children's voice as they loved to explain what they had been doing in class and so willing to show us their work. Andy was always so responsive to the children giving encouragement and praise, as well as setting targets for them to reach their full potential. He is an outstanding teacher.
I'd recommend Andy because he's hard working, has a great sense of humour, is good at getting on with people and will travel the world to do his job.
