About Irene

I’m Spanish and have lived abroad for several years. For the past six years, I’ve been based in Arles, in the south of France.

I studied Fine Arts and later completed several courses in teaching Spanish as a foreign language. For many years, I’ve combined teaching online with my creative work and photography exhibitions. I currently also collaborate with Idiomas, querida!.

Living abroad has taught me how much confidence matters when speaking another language — and how rewarding it is to feel that you can finally express yourself. My artistic background brings creativity and curiosity to my lessons, and I love getting to know the person behind each student.

About the lesson

Ever had a whole conversation in your head, only to get stuck when you try to say it in another language? That’s where we start.

My approach combines practical language learning with techniques inspired by acting and public speaking. We work on listening, intention, improvisation and how you use your voice — to help you feel more comfortable being yourself in another language. My teaching experience also includes collaborating with Idiomas, querida!.

We might rehearse a tricky conversation, practise speaking to a group, tell a story or improvise an everyday situation. What do you want to say? Who are you speaking to? How do you want it to come across? Grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation become tools that help you get your message across.

And yes, there’s room for a laugh. You can get stuck, try again and make mistakes without feeling like you’re constantly being examined.

For me, connecting as people is an essential part of learning. Every student brings a different personality, sense of humour and way of seeing the world. I take time to find what gets you talking and what makes the lesson click for you — whether that’s music, travel, work, lively debates or the little dramas of everyday life.

That connection gives us something to build on: lessons you look forward to, the confidence to keep trying and a reason to come back. Because progress grows through regular practice, and regular practice is much easier when you enjoy showing up.

The aim? To spend less time worrying about every word and more time expressing what you actually think.
