Find the best basketball trainers in Somerville

Every solid player starts with the same seven basketball fundamentals. Here is how they fit together.

• Shooting starts with balanced feet and a steady elbow. A smooth follow-through finishes the shot.
• Dribbling and passing keep the ball safe and the offense moving. Use your fingertips, not your palm.
• Footwork and defense help you stay balanced on both ends of the court. Pivoting and defensive slides are the basics.
• Rebounding and conditioning keep you effective late in the game. Box out first and then jump.

With a personal coach, you work on the exact skills that hold your game back.

A private basketball lesson in Somerville costs approximately $50/h.

Pricing can vary based on:

• Your current level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced)
• The tutor's expertise and background
• The package you choose (one-off or regular)
• The teaching mode (in person or video call)

Many coaches offer package discounts for booking several lessons.

Practicing basketball works best when each session has a clear goal. Pick one skill and work on it.

• Warm up for five minutes with light jogging and dynamic stretches. This prepares your body and prevents injuries.
• Drill ball handling with stationary dribbles and cone weaves. Use both hands to avoid a weak side.
• Shoot close to the rim first and then step back. Form matters more than distance early on.
• Play pickup games or two-on-two when you can. Real competition tests what you practiced.

One-on-one lessons turn solo practice into steady progress.
