Understanding the 3-fret rule is a key step toward clean, efficient bass playing.

• One finger per fret: each finger is responsible for one fret in a three-fret window, keeping your hand position stable and consistent.
• Left-hand efficiency: by limiting each finger to one fret, you build speed and accuracy without straining your hand.
• Proper thumb placement: a neutral thumb position directly behind the neck allows your fingers to stretch comfortably across three frets.
• When to shift positions: position shifts let you cover the entire fretboard cleanly while keeping the 3-fret rule intact in each new zone.

Mastering this rule early prevents bad habits that are hard to unlearn later.

The average cost of bass guitar lessons in Moscow is around $18/h.

Several factors influence the price:

• Your current level (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
• The tutor's experience and qualifications
• The duration and frequency of lessons
• The lesson format (online, at home, or at the tutor's studio)

Many tutors offer package discounts for booking multiple lessons.

Getting good at bass requires a balanced approach covering posture, rhythm, and fretboard knowledge.

• Start with proper posture and technique: learning the right technique from day one saves you from developing habits that slow you down later.
• Learn to read tabs and bass clef notation: understanding notation gives you access to every style of music and makes communication with other musicians easier.
• Focus on rhythm and groove: locking in with the rhythm section is what defines a great bassist, so prioritize timing above all else.
• Study scales, patterns, and the fretboard: fretboard knowledge lets you understand why things sound good and move freely across all positions.

Working with a qualified bass tutor is the fastest way to build solid foundations and avoid common beginner mistakes.
