Find a private French tutor in Glens Falls North

Many learners have successfully mastered French without formal classes by following a structured self-study method.

• Build vocabulary daily: Focus on high-frequency vocabulary first and use spaced repetition to lock new words into long-term memory.
• Master the basics of grammar: Understanding core grammar patterns, such as how adjectives agree with nouns and how verbs change by tense — gives your French a solid foundation.
• Practice listening and speaking: Combine listening practice with speaking exercises, even if it means talking to yourself, to build real fluency.
• Read and write in French: Regular reading in French exposes you to natural sentence patterns you can later use in conversation.

A qualified French tutor can complement your self-study, providing personalized feedback and keeping you motivated.

A private French lesson in Glens Falls North costs approximately $30/h.

Several factors influence the price:

• The level of study (elementary, high school, college)
• The instructor's credentials and track record
• The number of hours booked
• The teaching mode (in-person or video call)

Online lessons are often more affordable while remaining effective.

French proficiency is measured using the CEFR scale, which divides learners into six levels from A1 (complete beginner) to C2 (native-like mastery).

• A1 – Beginner: At A1, learners recognize everyday expressions and can communicate in a limited, predictable context.
• A2 – Elementary: At A2, communication is possible in routine situations that involve a direct exchange of information.
• B1 – Intermediate: This level marks independence — you can navigate real-life situations without heavy reliance on a dictionary.
• B2 – Upper Intermediate: This is the level required for many university programs and professional environments in French.
• C1–C2 – Advanced to Mastery: At C1 and C2, you express yourself spontaneously, understand virtually everything, and produce complex, well-structured text.

Understanding where you stand on the CEFR scale is the first step to setting realistic, motivating French learning goals.
