Find private trumpet lessons in Cincinnati

When you see a slur in trumpet music, it means you keep the air moving and switch notes with your fingers alone.

• Continuous airflow: you keep blowing steadily through the whole slurred group.
• Valve changes only: you switch pitch with your fingers, not your tongue.
• Smooth sound: the result is a connected, legato phrase.
• Contrast with tonguing: a slur is the opposite of a fresh tongue stroke on every note.

Working on slurs regularly makes your playing sound more connected and expressive.

In Cincinnati, expect to pay about $39/h for an hour of trumpet.

The cost depends on:

• Your current level (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
• The teacher's expertise and background
• The number of hours booked
• The lesson format (online, at home, at the tutor's)

Comparing several profiles helps you find the best value.

It's possible to learn trumpet solo, especially with online videos and method books.

• Embouchure: getting your lip position right is tricky to judge without outside feedback.
• Breath support: efficient breathing habits are easier to learn with hands-on guidance.
• Bad habits: small errors often turn into habits without someone checking your form.
• Motivation: a set lesson schedule helps you stay committed.

Working with a qualified teacher makes self-taught struggles much easier to avoid.
