Find private trumpet lessons in Pasadena

When you see a slur in trumpet music, it means you keep the air moving and switch notes with your fingers alone.

• Continuous airflow: the air never stops between the notes.
• Valve changes only: pitch shifts come from valve combinations, not new tongue strokes.
• Smooth sound: the result is a connected, legato phrase.
• Contrast with tonguing: tonguing separates notes, slurring joins them.

Working on slurs regularly makes your playing sound more connected and expressive.

In Pasadena, expect to pay about $63/h for an hour of trumpet.

The cost depends on:

• Your skill level and learning goals
• The teacher's expertise and background
• The package you choose (one-off or regular)
• The teaching mode (in-person or video call)

Many tutors offer package discounts for booking multiple lessons.

It's possible to learn trumpet solo, especially with online videos and method books.

• Embouchure: a wrong lip setup is hard to spot in the mirror alone.
• Breath support: it's tough to self-diagnose weak air support.
• Bad habits: small errors often turn into habits without someone checking your form.
• Motivation: regular sessions with a teacher keep practice on track.

Working with a qualified teacher makes self-taught struggles much easier to avoid.
