About Justin
I come from a small village in the north of England near the Scottish border. After school I worked briefly as a stonemason / restorer at Salisbury Cathedral. Then I enrolled at the University of Aberdeen (Scotland) for a four-year degree in Geological Sciences. I have always enjoyed working in a team with other people, and so I started guiding for a university hiking group. My first contact with Italy was an Erasmus at the University of Pisa in 2016/2017. In 2019 I earned my degree and moved to Italy where I initially worked as a cook and shutter illustrator, and at the beginning of 2020 I made the journey to become a TEFL certified English teacher. I am currently enrolled at the University of Genoa where I am pursuing my master's degree. In addition to English and Italian, I speak German at a mother tongue level and I have a good knowledge of French and Polish.

For me, learning a new language is based on two principles: on the one hand the spontaneous understanding and use of basic grammatical concepts and on the other the fun of the active use of the language in real contexts! Theory and practice "so to speak" ... This is why my approach is strongly based on speaking even for beginners, stimulating the student to use the language as if he were in a situation of total immersion. I use as much authentic material as possible (articles, magazines, songs, videos) with which I can make my lessons more personalized and stimulating - the conversation should be a pleasure, and not a stressful exam situation! Depending on your wishes, I can offer both monolingual and bilingual English - Italian lessons, both in person and online. I am willing to choose and adapt the material taking into account individual needs by recreating a possible scenario or working or school / university environment. Together we will achieve your goal!
