About Hisako

Hi, my name is Hisako, and I would love to teach you about Japan and the Japanese language!

I am a qualified Japanese language teacher with experience teaching since 2011 to a wide range of students. I have also supervised e-learning content and created tailor-made textbooks for business learners. In addition, I have trained and mentored trainee teachers in teacher training courses.

I have teaching experience in the UK, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

Certification:
Completed a 420-hour Japanese Language Teacher Training course at a Japanese government-accredited training institute

Minor degree in Japanese Language and Literature

My hobbies include traveling and café-hopping. I also enjoy exchanging cultures and interests with my students, and I look forward to learning about your culture too!

I teach practical, natural Japanese that you can start using from day one.
My lessons focus on output — speaking and writing — as essential skills for developing fluency and enriching your existing knowledge. I can also help you correct fossilized errors and remove barriers to smooth, natural communication.

I offer a friendly, fun, and engaging structure to help you start or continue your Japanese learning journey. I teach all levels using a direct approach, including:

All JLPT levels

Lessons take place on Zoom and usually last 60 to 90 minutes, using a variety of materials. Since I am based in Japan, I can also teach you about current, real-world Japanese usage beyond what textbooks offer.
