About Shane
I am a graduate of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts with an emphasis in Classical Instrumental. I graduate from Xavier University of Louisiana in May of 2024 with a major in Music Education and Applied Trumpet and Minor in Psychology. I studied trumpet under Grammy-nominated Music Educator Dr. Tim Turner and I play lead in the Xavier University of Louisiana Jazz Ensemble and principal trumpet in the University’s Symphonic Band. I have had the pleasure of sharing a stage with the greats, Donald Brown, Kidd Jordan, Dr. Michael White, Ashlin Parker, Donald Harrison, Wynton Marsalis, the late Ellis Marsalis Jr. and Steve Masakowski! I’m a proud member of Trumpet Mafia and the International Trumpet Guild. I’ve mentored and been mentored at the Louis Armstrong Jazz Camp; I’m beginning instruction at the Naval School of Music in preparation for playing trumpet with the United States Marine Corps band.

I would describe my teaching philosophy as organic in that while our focus will center around trumpet and music, a lot of what we talk about can be applied to your concept to other areas of your life. We have to practice discipline every day to maintain a consistent routine to foster our artistic development. We will talk about what to practice at what times for how long, concepts that will broaden your perspective of how to breathe and then use your breath to phrase lines, how to listen to music, how to transcribe using the tools available, and many other practices that will enable you to not only confidently seize any opportunity you want be that college auditions, all-state auditions, or jam sessions, but also network with peers and professionals in a respectful but memorable way.
