About Maria

My name is Maria Jiga and I recently completed my A-levels. I've known for some time that business is the path I want to pursue but this became fully solidified when I realised that Business was my favourite subject during my studies. I strongly believe in the value of education but I also think that learning shouldn’t be purely theoretical. Theory is essential yes but it can be difficult to fully grasp concepts we can't see in action. That’s why the idea of a degree apprenticeship has always appealed to me more than a traditional university route. Although I applied to both options I was fortunate to secure an offer from the University of St Andrews for a Master’s in Business Management and Sustainable Development. However I ultimately chose to accept a commercial degree apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce. This route allows me to combine academic study with real world experience applying theory in a practical setting and learning in a way that makes sense to me. While A-level Business may sometimes feel classroom bound the way you are encouraged to approach the subject can make the knowledge feel truly graspable and relevant. That is exactly what I aim to bring as a tutor helping students not just memorise content but understand how it connects to the real world. That’s the beauty of a subject that has no correct answer.

About the lesson

Having been through the stress of A-levels, I understand how difficult the journey can be and how overwhelming learning sometimes feels. I’ve experienced it myself and I’ve seen it in the students I tutored in GCSE Maths and Science. Learning is a personal process as we all learn differently, but one thing all students share is that it’s much easier to learn when we actually enjoy the subject. I really enjoyed Business, not just because it interested me but also because of how engaging and supportive my teacher was. That made all the difference for me and I’m here to offer that same level of support to help you secure top grades in A-level Business. Learning should be enjoyable, not stressful. It’s all about finding the right approach.
