About Wes

Hi, I’m Wes. I’m 18 and currently work in Equity Analysis in Surrey, having recently completed my A-Levels.

My own experience at school wasn’t always straightforward — I sometimes struggled with focus and found that the traditional classroom environment didn’t always suit me. That experience is a big part of why I enjoy tutoring: I know that school isn’t everything, and that a student’s ability, interests and potential aren’t always reflected by how they perform in a classroom.

I want to help students find an approach that works for them, build their confidence and show them that struggling with certain aspects of school doesn’t mean they can’t achieve the grades they want. I’m particularly interested in making Economics feel practical and relevant rather than just something to memorise.

Outside of Economics and work, I’m a football fan and enjoy keeping up with the sport in my spare time. I think having interests outside of academics is important too, and I try to bring that same balanced perspective to tutoring.

About the lesson

My lessons are personalised, structured and exam-focused, with every session tailored to the individual student. I focus on building a genuine understanding of Economics while developing the exam technique and analytical skills needed to achieve the highest possible marks.

I also understand that not every student learns well in a traditional classroom environment. I personally struggled with focus during long school days, so I know how difficult it can be to stay engaged, organise your learning and maintain motivation. This experience helps me connect with students on a personal level and adapt my teaching to how they learn best, rather than expecting them to fit a particular teaching style.

I believe that struggling with focus or finding school difficult does not have to prevent a student from achieving excellent grades. I achieved an A* in Edexcel A-Level Economics with a 98.2% average across my Year 13 examinations, and I aim to help students navigate their own circumstances while still reaching their academic potential.

I have also created my own extensive set of Economics resources, specifically built around the Edexcel A-Level specification. Students receive access to my notes, explanations, diagrams, examples and exam-focused materials, all of which can be tailored to their individual needs.

My current work in Equity Analysis in Surrey also allows me to bring real-world financial and economic examples into lessons, helping students see how the concepts they learn apply beyond the classroom.

Typical lesson length: 60 minutes, with longer sessions available where appropriate.

Qualifications & experience: A,A,A*/A A-Level grades. I currently work in Equity Analysis in Surrey.

Who my lessons are for: I primarily tutor GCSE and A-Level Economics students, particularly those studying Edexcel. Whether a student is struggling with focus, finding certain concepts difficult, lacking confidence, or aiming for the very highest grades, I tailor lessons around their individual circumstances and goals.
