About Eben
I’m currently taking a gap year before studying Theology at Durham University. I have always enjoyed the Humanities because they encourage students to ask questions, consider different perspectives, and develop their own arguments and ideas. While I enjoy all Humanities subjects, I find History and Philosophy particularly challenging and fascinating. My study of Theology at university will bring these interests together, exploring the period from 10–100 AD while engaging with questions of history, philosophy and truth.
My aim is to make lessons as engaging and academically challenging as possible, while always working at a pace suited to the student. Whether you need help with essay writing, exam preparation, or understanding a particular topic, I hope to share my enthusiasm for these subjects and help students develop both their confidence and critical thinking skills.

Developing a healthy approach to revision consistently outperforms an overwhelming schedule. By supporting students’ wellbeing, memory retention and understanding is naturally strengthened. As a successful A-level student, I strongly believe the key to achieving this is consistent, focused revision, over excessive hours of study which often leads to burnout.
My tutoring approach is therefore centred around adapting to the tutee, by making the time to understand their revision style, I can use this as a foundation and slowly introduce techniques aimed at improving their academic performance. Creating an environment where students can comfortably make mistakes is very important, research shows identifying and correcting errors is the number one way of strengthening understanding, and so all questions are welcomed.
I am particularly passionate about Philosophy and can tutor the subject at A-level, having achieved an A grade myself. I can also tutor History, Religious Studies, and Citizenship at GCSE level, having achieved an 8 in each of these subjects.
I would incorporate short three-minute breaks around the 40-minute mark, ensuring that lessons remain both productive and engaging. I would teach for a maximum of two hours per session, as this is roughly where a sharp drop in focus and memory retention begins to occur.
