About Alex
I have taken opportunities at school in the past 2 years to tutor children from the ages of 6 to all the way up to 16. I have the most experience tutoring students studying for their GCSEs who needed some extra, 1-on-1, assistance outside of lessons in order to achieve their target grade. I have just finished my A-levels for the summer, and next term will be heading off to do an engineering degree.

I think having one, concrete, inflexible methodology for tutoring would be a mistake! I always strive to adapt to the learning style that is most suitable to my student, maximising the effectiveness and enjoyability of the lesson.
For example if a student prefers long explanations of a topic with lots of different examples, I'm happy to do that. However; if they prefer me to take more of a backseat, and just be there to answer any queries while they work on some questions, I'd be just as happy to do that too. And, of course, most students don't know how they learn best (and have often never even been asked by their school teachers), so it's my job to try 2 or 3 different approaches to see what clicks, and continually improve and adapt from there.
