About Talia
I love tutoring as I love helping people get to new heights. I also love English as it allows me to utilize my creativity through storytelling. It has always been my favourite subject since elementary school, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been hard to navigate. English can be very complex, including hard-to-read texts filled with big words, creating uncertainty if we students can create well-written work to that standard filled with in-depth analysis and strong grammar and spelling. I hope to show you that it isn't impossible, despite how stressful and discouraging it can be when you do not understand something. However, the best way to achieve any goal is by being resourceful, meaning if you do not understand something, seek help from someone, whether from a tutor or a Youtube video. You have vast resources, and I hope to make you realize just how successful you can be as a student and eventually as a working adult if you use your resources to your advantage.

Why choose me as your tutor? I am a very good listener and with that, I am sure to understand your difficulties and ways you could improve upon them in ways that work best for you! I value getting to know my tutees and creating an easy-going environment that is not at all scary or daunting, after all, I am a student just like you.
Typical lessons would include short exercises to review past lessons or knowledge that my tutees already have. Next, I would give liberal writing time on either a prompt I give or a school assignment that the student is working on. As I believe that students should not be given answers but rather try to get them on their own, my lessons will be geared towards letting the student realize their strengths and weaknesses and possible ways of improving them. I will push my students to get the answers themselves by teaching different methods of becoming great English students that will stick.
