About Denis
MA in Teaching from Iona College
BA in History from St. Bonaventure University
Minors in Latin & Classic Culture
Variety experience in the metropolitan area of New York City including public/private, urban/suburban, and middle/high school. Additional experience as a tutor with Huntington Learning Center, with a variety of students focusing on basic math and reading comprehension to college level writing. In undergrad, served as a peer tutor in history and Latin courses.

First is for students is to understand the topic. No lecturing. Approach to the lesson is conversational. Let's talk about growth areas, I'll fill in the blanks, and we will together build text-to-self connection. Meaning what is happening in the text or assignment lets connect it to a real world experience. It is much easier to remember for the future.
Then practice, practice, practice! Practice analyzing primary/secondary docs, writing a claim, and using appropriate evidence and reasoning.
