About Simon
I am a licensed (California, Ohio) Special Education teacher working for a non-public school in San Diego, California. I have taught in the classroom as a licensed teacher for 1.5 years, and I have been giving private lessons via a volunteer program created by my undergraduate program since 2017. I have experience teaching middle and high school level mathematics, science, english, and transitional life skills.
My traditional class size is on average 8 students, all of which have IEPS which allow for prompt and individual accommodations.

As the COVID-19 global health crisis shut schools down across the world, my current workplace was not immune. As a first year teacher, I was required to adapt by transitioning my teaching style from in-person based teaching to virtual based learning. After many trials, I have done so successfully by implementing individualized, personable lessons via various platforms designed for this specific style of learning.
I typically begin my lessons with a 5-10 minute introductory video provided by various online resources. After, using a whiteboard, I dive deeper into each topic and provide my students with visual, step-by-step examples of how to solve practice problems. Lastly, I observe the student attempt the problems independently, looking for, and eventually fixing, any mistakes that happen to occur.
