About Zachary

I live in Baltimore, MD with my void cat, Leo, who loves to chirp and chatter all day. I have a background in both speech-language pathology and psychology, but I also have extensive experience working with autistic individuals and/or those with intellectual/developmental disabilities. As someone who has been diagnosed later-in-life with ASD, I can empathize with others who struggle to express themselves effectively, at times. In some ways, my work has guided my own personal development when it comes to being more aware of how I communicate with others.

On a lighter note, I love to write and play music, I am passionate about playing soccer, I enjoy puzzles and playing games such as chess, and I always enjoy learning about new things and topics!

About the lesson

I have experience working with pediatric and adult populations, and am flexible to work with a range of needs. A typical lesson plan would be structured much like a treatment plan: establishing skills, learning and practice opportunities, followed up by at-home exercises to support skill generalization of skill development. I am able to work with non-native English speakers, and have some basic understanding of Spanish and I speak French at a basic conversational level. I am fascinated with language, and I like to share my enthusiasm for finding unique ways to help people find and/or expand their voice.

Sessions would typically be anywhere from 30 min - 1.5 hours, depending on need, availability, and commutability. I also offer online services, as I have experience with many online platforms, and could do this for a reduced fee. The benefits of virtual support in lieu of lack of in-person is relatively well-established, however, I recognize that it does not allow for a more personalized and hands-on experience.
