Hello, I’m Tabatha, and I’m glad you’re here.

I’m a licensed teacher with over 12 years of experience teaching kindergarten through middle school. I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching, an ESOL Endorsement, and certifications in Phonics First, GLAD, and Systematic ELD. I specialize in helping multilingual learners become confident readers, writers, and English speakers.

My approach

Students learn best when they feel safe, seen, and successful. I start with a quick assessment, then teach in small, clear steps with plenty of practice. I use structured phonics to build strong reading skills, sentence frames and vocabulary routines to build academic language, and I treat a student’s home language as a strength. Work samples and short check-ins let students and families see real progress.

A typical lesson (45-60 minutes)

Friendly check-in and quick review (5 min)
Explicit teaching of one skill, such as a phonics pattern, comprehension strategy, or writing structure (15 min)
Guided reading or writing practice with coaching (15-20 min)
Vocabulary and conversation practice (10 min)
Celebrate wins and preview next steps (5 min)

What sets me apart

I’ve worked with beginners and newcomers to English, struggling readers, students with learning differences, and students who need enrichment. In my third grade class, students at or above grade level in reading rose from 48% to 74% in one year, and 94% of my English learners at another school advanced at least one proficiency level. I’m patient and encouraging, and I keep families updated with regular progress notes and ideas for home.
