About Alina
I am 23 years old and have been making art my whole life. I want to share the joy of art by studying art education and sharing what I have learned in my own life as an artist. I have participated in nationwide contests and won $50,000 in one with a team of artists. This amount was distributed throughout the local school district to support art programs. I also assisted in the founding of an art collective called the ARTichokes. This group has provided opportunities for young artists to share their work with the community as well as gain experience in project management and team work.

My teaching is rooted in the technical production of artwork, depending on the medium. I like to allow students to play with a medium to observe its qualities and learn to manipulate it from there. I will also encourage other aspects of art-making such as the meditative qualities, self-expression and analysis, and its proclivity to stimulate creativity. My philosophy is that art is another form of communication and I would like to assist individuals in developing their artistic skills to use art in this way if they choose to do so.
My style is realism. I have always enjoyed using life as a reference and believe realism is a great way to challenge and develop technical skills, observation skills, and an appreciation of one's surroundings. I specialize in portraiture.
I will be offering two concentrations:
Art as Communication: How art has shaped our daily lives, creative exercises, creating a narrative and using symbolism, color theory, and more. This concentration would focus more on the use of various mediums.
Life Painting/Drawing: How to use grids, using view-finders, photographs as references, blending tools and how to blend, using graphite/charcoal, under-paintings, mixing colors, etc. This would focus on technical skills within a specific production of work and the medium of choice. Subjects will vary from inanimate objects to portraiture.
I can customize my lessons to any age group and skill level, but would do best with adolescents and adults. My style is casual. I try to be an empathetic and relatable tutor.
