About the lesson
I believe teaching is one of the most powerful and important things a person can do.
I always want my teaching to be consistent with my values. I believe kids should be more engaged in school, and in turn they will get a better education.
Kids-especially younger ones-should be able to have more fun in school. There should be lots of play, and play can absolutely educational.
I think we need a more modern approach to education. Kids need to learn critical thinking and problem solving skills, not just tricks for memorizing the answers to a lot of stressful, boring tests. Kids need to know how to cooperate, with less focus on seeing their friends and classmates as competitors for grades.
As an instructor, I try to ask questions that prompt serious thought about the topic. I like to discuss things with students and I love the moments when you can see a student growing their understanding of a topic.

AA from Vance Granville Community College in Henderson, NC.
Grew up in a martial arts family with a Karate and Jiu-Jitsu school, and have many years of experience working with students of varying abilities and ages, including private lessons.
I've always loved working with kids, and before leaving home in NC I was also tutoring/assisting my little sister with her tutor-based homeschooling.
