About Pearlena
As a lifelong learner and retired GED Teacher, most recently I helped an introverted sixth grader who began her sixth grade year working below the third grade level. Not only did she pass sixth grade last school year, this year she was 'Student of the Month' in October, is now playing volleyball, and has joined the book club. I, with outstanding results, have taught students as young as four months (in Early Childhood) to as old as 92 years of age (GED).

Primarily, I teach concepts rather than individual points. I help students find patterns inside their subjects and connect them to memory techniques to help them retain the information long enough to truly learn it. As every student is unique, so is their individually designed lesson plan for my teaching them. I consider teaching style as filling in the potholes in my student's past learning forming a firm foundation upon which their future learning may be built. Many of my students have increased two grade years within 30 days.

Details
Travel distances greater than 10 miles will accrue an additional $5.00/10 mile traveled. No refunds for cancellations made within 24 hours of scheduled time of class. Lessons in the student's home must be a distraction-free learning environment. Although parental observation is greatly encouraged and expected, it is best done through a partition such as a window to allow the student to completely focus on the lesson rather than being worried about what someone may say if they give a wrong response. To achieve a most effective, result based outcome for the student there should be no pets, siblings, TV program, etc. to distract the student's learning process. Your student's success is a joint venture between all of us. Let's do this!
