About Vincent

Having received degrees, tutored, taught, and worked in the fields of chemical and nuclear engineering for over 50 years, I have consequently acquired considerable experience and credentials in various areas of mathematics. To that end, I would enjoy helping others harvest their grapes of math through one-on-one, face-to-face, personalized tutoring in the greater Idaho Falls area. My professional math tutoring experience began as a junior at Montana State University, where I responded to a class of students attempting their math homework at a math lab during lunch hour at the student union building. Over the years I volunteered my efforts over many age groups. Lately, I’ve helped teachers be successful in reaccreditation. Even though some rote learning and repetitive practice are needed initially to start, my approach is set apart by tutoring insight based on pattern recognition, intuition, and abstraction. All three attributes are essential and required for a lifetime of math proficiency as well as mathematical concepts that actually shape our reality. Specific subjects for tutoring include basic arithmetic, logarithms, exponentials, fractions, algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, analytical geometry, trigonometry, college math, pre-calculus, linear algebra, both differential and integral calculus, and some differential equations. Future tutoring is planned for statistics as well as GRE and SAT prep. As of the present, I am working on an NTA accreditation via online platforms, such as Khan Academy and Schoolhouse world. About the lesson

My lesson plans will contain objectives for each specific mathematical sub area being tutored. Motivation will be provided to give purpose and a quick review of prerequisite problems with real world applications will be provided. Instruction will center on examples with step-by-step explanations. Both guided and independent practice will be included to enhance both pattern recognition and intuition. Finally, a small assessment will be completed and the session will be summarized with a review of key ideas as well as a preview of the next phase of the particular sub area.

My rates are prorated the more tutoring hours you sign up for. This can be as low as $10 an hour.
The address given is not my home address but the address of the Idaho Falls public library which offers excellent tutoring space. I will never request a student to be tutored at my home. Thank you.
