About Alyssa

I am a contemporary dancer from the Greater Toronto Area with a love for languages. I've been helping friends, students, and peers with their academic work in both the English and the French language since I was only twelve years old. I believe in the importance of having a strong vocabulary and eloquence with words. Though I am a native English speaker, I have been studying French my whole life. While living in Paris, France for a year as a nanny, the language became almost second nature to me through classes at L'Ecole Etoile and taking care of four French-speaking children. My parents were both born in Quebec, and my mother was a French tutor for much of my childhood.

About the lesson

I enjoy teaching in a personal sense, with open communication between teacher and student. My biggest struggle while learning French was forgetting all my grammar and vocabulary in a real conversation, mostly due to nervousness. Mistakes are common, and it's important to try and not feel embarrassed or frustrated while learning to speak new languages.

Group lessons focus on being able to discuss real topics and personal experiences about them. We'll focus on only one or two topics per lesson, learn some vocabulary around them, and how to form opinion based sentences. This is great for anybody who has a slight grasp on French already and just needs a little push to speak it more often.
Singular lessons are perfect for the real beginners who haven't a clue what the language entails, but are passionate and would love to know how to say little things here and there.

Classes will typically be solely French unless English needs to be spoken for comprehension purposes.
