About Wa’ad

Hi there! My name is Wa`ad (rhymes with Chad) and I am a cheerful tutor looking to help you out! I know that studying can be stressful which is why I focus my approach on stripping it back to the basics so that we’re not just memorising formulae and hoping for the best but actually really understanding how the maths is maths-ing and equipping you with the tools and practice so that the knowledge is easily applied again and again no matter the question. I work in schools across Brighton and Hove as a supply cover teacher so have plenty of knowledge of the curriculum and am not easily daunted by a challenge. Outside of academic teaching, my interest lies in acting/drama through which has tremendously helped in my teaching as it has allowed for the refining of my skills of engaging the attention of others, working towards a desired outcome, and doing so while keeping a positive attitude and sense of fun.

About the lesson

Together we will identify key areas to focus on and practise using exam style questions. My method is to focus on building my students’ confidence in their maths ability by breaking each aspect down into simple bite-size chunks so that the problem at hand is no longer daunting.

Wa’ad has been my daughter’s maths tutor for almost a year now. I can safely say that Lola always looks forward to her lessons and has gone from not getting maths AT ALL to actually improving her grades and even saying she “enjoyed maths” (!) Wa’ad had helped give my daughter the necessary foundations and understanding which she so far lacked. (She’s in year 7)
She is patient and has a gentle manner about her. She’s been flexible with timings yet always reliable and we look forward to carrying on with further tutoring next year :)
