About Tayfun
I am a Londoner born and raised, I grew up in the east end from a non musical family. I won a place at the Purcell School aged 14 on a full bursary and later studied at the Royal College of music for my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Despite my disadvantaged background in the music industry and having not had the head start of learning violin from a young age I was lucky to be nurtured by some of the best violin teachers and pedagogues internationally, and it is this knowledge I wish to pass of to those that study with me.
I gained experience performing in world class concert venues and events across the UK and London both in an orchestral and solo/chamber context including Watford Colosseum, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Barbican, St Albans Abbey, Cadogan Hall, St Martin in the Fields, Wigmore hall and Milton Court (after winning competition), and the Deal Festival in Kent just to name a few. I am currently on trial for a job at Bournemouth symphony orchestra and perform as a freelancer with Royal Philharmoinc, London Philharmonic orchestra and royal northern sinfonia, I was on a mentorship scheme with the orchestra of the Royal Opera House and I had the privilege to lead the RCM Opera Orchestra in a production of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel which received high critical acclaim by Opera Today. During my undergraduate degree I have had the opportunity to work with Conductors such as Jac Van Steen, Antonio Pappano, Vassily Petrenko and Kevin John Edusei most recently which has helped develop me professionally for the growing freelance orchestral work I am currently taking on. I have been a regular performer with the London Firebird Orchestra and Orion Orchestra as well as Premiering the Polish Opera Jawnuta at POSK. I performed at the Opera in the City Festival in 2019 in a production called Vivaldi Meets Werther and In the last year I have started working with Symphonica (DJ Mr Switch) formerly known as the Ibiza Orchestra playing orchestral renditions of EDM music at festival events across the UK, most recently in Dundee, Plymouth, Swansea, Huddersfield, Darlington and Milton Keynes. Over this Summer I performed several concerts at the Musica Mundi Chamber Music Festival & course in Belgium on a full scholarship and coached as an intern on the English Camerata Soloists course. I have also taken part in orchestral masterclasses with members of RPO and RLPO through recruiting classical.

My teaching method is individual to what each student needs, with a belief in having a strong technical basis enabling you to surpass the physical challenges in musical works to focus on finding your own unique expression and developing a broad emotional palette. I can help with exam preparation.
Lesson lengths are either 1 hour or 1.5 hour (sometimes shorter lessons can be offered for very young pupils)
I welcome all ages from very young to adult
I first studied at the Purcell School for young musicians and then later completed my Bachelors and Masters at the Royal College of music where in both institutions I have taken part in community outreach and teaching work. I have developed experience teaching through exploration of my own playing in my career as an orchestral musician examining how to produce the most efficient results but also how one’s physiology can impact the way they practice.
