About Carlo
I am a London-based Cambridge-educated historian with PhD and Masters degrees in Modern European History. I taught and tutored ('supervised') undergraduates at Cambridge and have presented my research in academic journals and at international historical conferences. I am also currently writing a book on the history of Fascism in Italy. I am passionate about my subject and I have taught successfully at Cambridge. I am looking forward to teaching both GCSE and A-level students who may be struggling with history and would like to improve their grades. I also offer mock Oxbridge admission interviews for people applying to study history at both universities.

I believe that students can get the most from history by learning how to build and structure arguments, and by realising how past events hold important lessons for the present and the future. Although often taught in a 'dry' manner in school, history can be an exciting subject, once students learn to see and understand how societies and political systems evolve and change throughout the ages and how this has affected our current reality. I seek to nurture this passion for history in my students by applying the 'Cambridge-method' of teaching in my classes. It consists of intensive one-on-one tutoring sessions (usually 1h each) in which students learn about history by writing essays and presenting and discussing their arguments with the tutor. Thereby students will develop their historical research skills through weekly practice which is key for any successful exam preparation. This approach also gives students the best preparation for university studies, as they will learn those research methods which they will have to use as undergraduates.
