About Karen
Hi, I’m Karen, and I specialize in home-style Cantonese Chinese cooking, the kind we actually make in our own kitchens. I come from a Chinese household and have spent years cooking these dishes in everyday life, not just learning them from books. I also have experience training and guiding others, which means I know how to explain things clearly, support different learning styles, and help students build real cooking confidence. My classes are calm, structured, and focused on helping you truly understand each dish — not just follow steps, but cook with care and purpose.
I offer online classes to students across India and internationally. All sessions are conducted in English and designed to be easy to follow, wherever you're learning from.

My Teaching Approach
Cooking isn’t just about following recipes — it’s about understanding ingredients, trusting your senses, and building confidence. With my Chinese background, I focus on teaching home-style Cantonese cooking in a simple, clear, and approachable way — whether you’re just starting out or looking to grow your skills.
Classes are held online and are open to students from any location. Clear English instruction makes it easy for learners from India and abroad.
How I Teach
My method is hands-on and practical. I guide you step by step — from preparation to cooking and finishing the dish — while explaining the “why” behind each step. I’m also happy to help you find the right ingredients locally or suggest simple substitutes when needed, so you never feel stuck.
Class Structure
In each session, I cook the full dish in real-time while you watch, learn, and ask questions along the way. You don’t need to cook during the class — unless you want to. Afterward, you can try it at your own pace using the recipe and notes we cover together.
A typical class includes:
i. A quick introduction to the dish and ingredients
ii. A step-by-step cooking demonstration with explanations and tips
iii. Suggestions on how to adjust flavors or substitute ingredients
iv. Time at the end for questions or clarifications
You’ll receive the full recipe and helpful notes after class, so you can cook confidently on your own. Classes are designed to fit within 60 minutes, though I’m happy to extend by 10–15 minutes if needed to wrap up properly.
What Makes My Classes Different
i. I teach from personal experience — not just from books or restaurant-style recipes.
ii. These are real dishes from my background, cooked the way we make them at home.
iii. I explain everything clearly and share tips you can use again in everyday cooking.
iv. No fancy tools are needed — just basic kitchen items and a genuine interest in learning.
Who Can Join
These classes are ideal for:
i. Adults and college students
ii. Beginners or home cooks
iii. Anyone who enjoys Chinese food and wants to try making it at home
You don’t need any prior cooking experience — just curiosity and a willingness to try.

Details
My standard rate is ₹1800 per hour for individual online sessions.
However, if you're serious about learning Chinese cooking — not just following recipes, but truly understanding the techniques, ingredients, and flavor-building — a single class won’t take you far.
That’s why I’ve designed a structured, beginner-friendly cooking program that blends theoretical learning with practical, hands-on cooking. The course is paced to help you build real confidence in the kitchen and prepare a variety of dishes by the end.
About 5-hour and 10-hour options:
Superprof also offers 5-hour and 10-hour booking formats. These hours will be spread across multiple sessions — not completed in one day. While they’re useful for students who want to start slow or explore a few topics, they’re best suited for casual learners.
If your goal is to cook Chinese food properly at home and gain lasting skills, my full program is the better choice — with a step-by-step structure, real-time demos, and full post-class support.
Feel free to message me here on Superprof if you'd like to know more about the program, join the next batch, or need help choosing the right path. I’d be happy to guide you.
