About Yasmine

Hi! I'm Yasmine, a first-year Politics student at UCL.

I know exactly what it's like to struggle with a subject and feel frustrated when results don't seem to reflect all the effort you're putting in. However, this means I also know how rewarding it is when that hard work finally pays off and you see yourself improving! That experience is a big part of why I wanted to start tutoring.

I genuinely enjoy helping people understand things they find difficult, no matter how small it may be! I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and figuring things out without feeling judged- we're all human! At the same time, I take all progress seriously. I want every lesson to have a clear purpose and for students to leave knowing what they've improved on and what they can work on next.

Nothing is ever "too hard." My aim is not just to help students get through their exams, but to help them become more confident in their own ability. I'll bring patience, preparation and a positive attitude to each and every lesson.

And of course, our goal is simple: let's beat the exam board!

About the lesson

The fundamental thing with GCSE History is learning how to turn what you know into marks. You can know all the dates and events, but if you don't know how to structure your answer or what the question is actually asking, it's much harder to get the grade you want.

When I teach History, I make the content less overwhelming by treating it as a story. Instead of memorising many random facts, we'll look at what occurred, why it happened, its impact and how everything connects to our story. I also emphasise active recall and blurting to help students work out what they actually know and what we need to go over together.

A big part of my lessons is exam technique. I'll help you understand how to approach different question types, structure your answers, and use your knowledge in a way that earns marks.

I achieved a grade 8 in GCSE History and an A in A-Level History, and I know what it's like to improve rather than just find the subject naturally easy. I also have experience supporting younger students through weekly one-to-one reading mentoring.

I currently study Politics and International Relations at UCL and offer GCSE History tutoring for pupils in Years 10 and 11. Lessons are online and usually 1-2 hours, depending on what you need, whether that's building confidence with the content, working on exam technique, or preparing for exams!
