About Annie
Teaching French as a second (or additional) language (FSL), has been a passion of mine for a long time. Following a BEd (1995), I started to teach Core French, French Immersion, and FSL at the Elementary, Middle, and High School levels, mostly in Ontario. More recently (2017 & 2018), I taught ELA, FSL, Social Studies, and Drama, to Middle & High School students in Abu Dhabi (UAE), and Beijing (China).
Prior to that (2000-2011), I taught FSL to adult newcomers in Canada, following mostly the province of Quebec's curriculum, but also the Ontario's curriculum. I also obtained a master's degree in Adult Education, which has significantly enriched my knowledge of the adult as a learner.
In 2013, I published a French as first language textbook, geared towards an adult clientele completing their high school diploma, later in life. The textbook "Découvrir des gens de lettres et leur univers", was one of the written French courses of the Quebec curriculum, offered in Grade 11 (secondaire V) in the same province.
More recently (2021-2022), I worked as Instructional Designer, building interactive online courses for CDI College, with campuses in most Canadian provinces, but for various programs.
Presently, I am the National Manager, Programs, Learning, and Evaluation for a Canadian non-profit working for FSL to be more accessible to children & teenagers, across Canada. Although I am not acting as an Educator anymore, I continue to work for FSL, in Canada.
Working with you as a FSL Tutor, is a way for me to continue teaching the French language, a passion of mine for more than 25 years... and counting!

How do I organize and structure my lessons?
I first establish, with you, what your learning needs are.
From there, I always start with the WHY (grammar).
Then I immerse you in the specific covered topic, at the oral, written, read, and listening levels, with different interactive activities.
I do not believe in a one-size-fit-all curriculum, I build it as you progress in your learning journey, staying flexible to meet YOUR FSL learning needs.
I have experience teaching FSL following the Ministries of Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, and Alberta's curriculums, for adults and children (K-12) learners.
I think that what sets me apart is the fact that I love teaching FSL, that I always develop a good relationship with my students, listening to their initial FSL learning needs, while staying flexible and adapting to changing directions, that always occur during learning journeys.
