About Nihar

Hi there! I'm Nihar, an LSE university student who has a track record of strong academic qualifications with all 7-9s in GCSEs and 4 As at A-Levels.

To keep it short, I had the privilege of amazing teachers and ‘not so good’ teachers, and realised the impact it can have on students. Also the satisfaction of seeing my students get the results they worked hard for is unimaginable :D

About the lesson

I like to use various techniques, especially my signature blank paper approach for Mathematics, to suit the student’s needs. I like the students to control the lessons to their needs so it’s not like another school lesson :D. This is by having a blank sheet of paper at the start of every lesson and slowly populate it with notes, this is also tested to be an efficient and effective way to build a ‘mind paradise’ of content, making it easier to remember.

For A-Level Economics, I usually have a slide deck for each topic and use it to support the lesson, asking questions and testing the student with mini tasks throughout.

In terms of the structure for a 1 hour lesson, we start the first 5 minutes answering any questions they had from previous lessons or in school. The next 40-45 minutes is covering the main material and topic(s) the student wants to learn and we use the remaining time to go through practice questions and review exam techniques. Note that this is a standard structure if the student does not have any preferences, I am flexible with changing the schedule during the lesson if we want to focus on a particular area (e.g. spend the entire hour on exam questions nearer exam dates).

And since then, she is doing very well in school and her grades went up twice during the tests, she now has the predicted grade to go to her top choice sixth form.

She also sees Nihar as a role model and a mentor, she hopes to one day give tuition lessons herself :)
