About Sasha

I am a passionate, experienced tutor with 5+ years under my belt, ranging from students in Year 3 to 13.

I am a first-class Cambridge economics graduate, with a particular interest in macroeconomics. Following graduation, I worked at JP Morgan Asset Management doing climate research, and am now pursuing a masters in Economics at the London School of Economics, where I will begin PhD in September.

I hold a first class Economics degree from the University of Cambridge. I also hold an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics, where I graduated with Distinction and ranked first in the cohort. I am currently a PHD student at the LSE.

I am hugely passionate about Economics as it encompasses a breadth of disciplines, one of which being mathematics.

When I was younger, I became nervous at the prospect of sitting an exam. However, I started approaching them as more of a display of my hard work rather than a test, I learnt that relaxing and focusing yielded better results. Following this, I have received the top grade in all public exams that I have sat, both in GCSE and A Levels.

In terms of applying to University, a different approach is required. Genuine engagement with the subject and the pursuit of resources and knowledge beyond the school syllabus is part of the process, one which I found greatly enjoyable.

To help students achieve their goals, I will first enquire as to what those are. The main goal may be exam orientated but smaller, personal goals are welcome too!

If a student is solely exam focused, I will base my lessons around their syllabus, focusing on improving their areas of weakness and also incorporating test technique, so that they receive the grade they deserve. We will begin by establishing a strong foundation of knowledge and understanding, gradually attempting practise questions together, and then timed papers that we will later discuss.

For university applications, I will identify the requirements for the university in question and discuss with the student any off syllabus areas of Economics that pique their interest. I will recommend books, podcasts and articles to discuss and I have archives of interview questions that we will tackle together.

For all, I will prepare an overall lesson plan, outlining the trajectory of the sessions. This will be adapted over the course of the tuition as the student's strengths and weaknesses are highlighted. Progress will be measured through short home works and oral review questions.

Exams do not have to be stressful. I believe that thorough preparation and a genuine understanding of the material give students a rewarding exam experience. The aim of my sessions is to encourage students to enjoy their subject!
