About Lucas

I’m Lucas, a final-year Computer Science student specialising in security and forensics. As a middle child with two sisters — one with ADHD and autism, the other with dyslexia — I’ve grown up learning how to adapt to different learning needs with patience, structure, and understanding. Tutoring is something I find incredibly rewarding. I love helping students achieve that “aha” moment when a tricky concept suddenly clicks. I achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE Maths and studied Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry at A-level, and I’ve successfully helped a student improve to a Grade 8 in GCSE Maths. I know the curriculum inside out and focus on calmly breaking down complex ideas into simple, manageable steps. Alongside academics, I enjoy gaming, going to the gym, and spending time with friends and family. Being a university student helps me keep sessions engaging, friendly, and not just another boring lesson. My lessons are designed for GCSE students of all abilities, whether you want to build confidence, improve exam technique, or push towards top grades.

About the lesson

I believe the best way to improve is through clear explanations, lots of practice, and building confidence step by step. I start each session by checking what a student already understands, then break down new topics into simple, manageable parts. I use worked examples, past exam questions, and plenty of practice problems so students can apply what they’ve learnt straight away. Lessons are normally 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the student’s needs and concentration. I find this gives enough time to review material, cover new content, and practise exam-style questions without rushing. I achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE Maths and studied Maths, Further Maths, and Chemistry at A level. I also have experience tutoring a GCSE student who went on to achieve a Grade 8 in Maths with my support. My lessons are designed for GCSE students of all abilities — whether you’re aiming to pass with confidence or push towards the top grades. I adapt my teaching style to each student, focusing on their weak areas while reinforcing their strengths.
