About the lesson

1) First I use a Placement Test to determine the student's grade level.
2) Then I select the book at his/her grade level. (Reading Mastery or Corrective Reading) I use a carefully developed and tested program design structured so that my student will learn how to learn as he/she masters increasingly complex skills and reading strategies. I give a scripted presentation approach that uses a brisk pace with carefully chosen exercises and examples.
3) I always teach using Direct Instruction, which carefully builds competency. Skills are broken down into small steps that can be easily taught. 4) My students always achieve at high levels; they start to love reading, and they believe they are smart, which they are. These lessons are for grade levels 1-6. 5) My students are enthusiastic, motivated, high-achieving learners because of Direct Instruction.
