I'm Jared! I bring over 12 years of hands-on experience in the IT industry, spanning software development, cybersecurity, IT leadership, and machine learning. Throughout my career, I've worked on real-world projects, led teams, and stayed at the forefront of an ever-evolving field — experience I now bring directly into every lesson I teach.

I believe great tutoring isn't about reciting a textbook; it's about translating real industry knowledge into lessons that make sense for each individual student. That's why I take an adaptable, agile approach with every student I work with, tailoring lessons to their unique learning style, pace, and goals; whether they're just starting out or preparing for college-level coursework.

I've had the privilege of guiding students ages 12 to 18 through their first lines of code, their first cybersecurity concepts, and their first steps into machine learning. Watching a student go from confused to confident is what I love most about teaching.

My Approach as a Tutor

Hi, I'm Jared! With over 12 years of experience across IT leadership, software development, cybersecurity, and now machine learning, I bring real-world industry knowledge into every lesson — not just textbook theory.

Teaching Method & Techniques

I use an adaptable, agile approach to teaching. Just like in software development, I believe every "project" (student) is different, so I don't run a one-size-fits-all curriculum. Instead, I start by assessing each student's current skill level, learning style, and goals, then build a custom learning path around them. For visual learners, I lean on diagrams and live demos. For hands-on learners, I get them coding, configuring, or problem-solving right away. I regularly check in and adjust the plan as the student progresses or as their interests shift.

A Typical Lesson

A typical session starts with a quick recap of previous material and a check on any homework or practice exercises. From there, we dive into new concepts using a mix of explanation, real-world examples from my industry experience, and hands-on practice — whether that's writing code, working through a cybersecurity scenario, or exploring a machine learning concept. I like to close each lesson with a short recap and a clear "next steps" so the student always knows what we're building toward.

Unlike tutors who only have academic experience, I've spent over a decade actually working in the field — as a developer, in cybersecurity, in IT leadership, and now in machine learning.
