About Ivy
I am a passionate violin tutor with 20 years of teaching experience, working with high school students, college learners, and adults, and I have successfully taught around 300 students from different backgrounds and skill levels. My teaching philosophy is based on patience, clarity, and steady progress, as I believe every student can learn violin with the right guidance and support.
I focus on building strong fundamentals such as posture, bow control, finger placement, and tone quality, which are essential for long-term improvement. I explain each concept in a simple and clear way so students can understand and apply it during practice.
I also include exercises, scales, and songs that make lessons engaging and enjoyable. One of my key achievements is helping students move from beginners to confident performers. My goal is to create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel motivated and enjoy their learning journey.

I teach violin with a student-centered approach that prioritizes communication, flexibility, and hands-on learning. I observe each student’s strengths, goals, and preferred learning style to design lessons that maximize understanding and progress.
I focus on posture, bowing, fingering, tone, intonation, phrasing, and expressive skills while fostering creativity and personal interpretation. Real-life examples such as performing favorite pieces, practicing with accompaniment, and preparing for recitals help students apply their learning practically.
Alongside violin, I teach music theory, rhythm exercises, ear training, sight-reading, and basic piano skills to build comprehensive musicianship. My aim is to create structured, engaging, and confidence-building lessons.
