About Cate

Hello! I’m Cate, an experienced and patient tutor from the Philippines with a genuine passion for helping students learn and grow.

I have six years of experience tutoring children ages 5–16, teaching English, reading, writing, Mathematics, Science, and other foundational skills. I also have experience training adults in a professional setting, which has strengthened my ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt to different learning styles.

I have a C2 level of English proficiency and enjoy creating lessons where students feel comfortable asking questions, practicing their English, and learning from their mistakes. I believe that learning should be encouraging, enjoyable, and suited to the individual student.

Whether your child is just beginning to learn English or simply needs more practice and confidence, I would be happy to help them reach their learning goals. I look forward to learning with you!

About the lesson

I believe children learn best when they feel comfortable, encouraged, and genuinely interested in what they are learning. As a tutor, I use a patient, friendly, and personalized approach that allows each student to learn at their own pace.

With six years of freelance tutoring experience, I have taught children from ages 5 to 16 in English, reading, writing, Mathematics, Science, and other foundational skills. I adjust my teaching style according to each child's age, learning level, personality, and needs.

A typical lesson begins with a short review or warm-up, followed by the introduction of the new topic. I explain concepts using simple language and examples that children can easily relate to. We then practice together through questions, exercises, reading activities, or conversation before moving toward independent practice. I also make time to review what the student has learned and encourage them to ask questions.

For English lessons, I focus not only on grammar and vocabulary but also on helping students become more comfortable using English in real conversations. I encourage students to speak, make mistakes, and try again without feeling embarrassed or pressured.

What sets me apart is my patience and genuine enjoyment of teaching. I don't believe that every student should be taught in exactly the same way. My goal is to understand how each learner learns best and create a positive environment where they can build both their skills and confidence.

I welcome beginner to intermediate learners, particularly children and young learners who need additional support, practice, or confidence in English.
