About Rowland
I'm Rowland, a certified mathematics teacher with a B.Ed in Mathematics Education and TRCN certification. I've been teaching since 2015, working with students across JSS1 to SS3, and I also tutor learners abroad in the UK, so I know how to connect with students from all kinds of backgrounds.
I fell in love with mathematics long before I became a teacher. There was something exciting about how a confusing problem could suddenly make sense once you saw it the right way, that "aha" moment never got old for me. When I started teaching, I realized I loved that moment even more when it happened for someone else.
That's really why I teach: I love watching a student go from frustrated and stuck to confident and capable. Math has a reputation for being intimidating, but I don't see it that way, and I don't want my students to either. I see it as a puzzle, a skill anyone can build with the right guidance and enough patience.
Every student learns differently, so I bring flexibility, encouragement, and a genuine belief in their ability to succeed. Teaching isn't just my job, it's something I genuinely enjoy, and I think that comes through in every lesson.

My approach to teaching mathematics is simple: no student is "bad at math," they've just never been taught in a way that clicks for them. That's what I focus on first — finding how you think, then building from there.
I start every session by identifying exactly where the gaps are, instead of assuming what you already know. From there, I break down complex topics into small, manageable steps, using real-life examples and visuals to make abstract concepts concrete. I believe understanding why a formula works matters just as much as knowing how to use it — that's what makes math stick long after the exam.
Practice is central to my method. I give students plenty of guided exercises during our sessions, then track their progress so we can adjust the pace as needed — moving faster where you're strong, slowing down where you need more time.
I also create a relaxed, judgment-free environment. Mistakes are part of learning, not something to fear. Whether you're preparing for WAEC, NECO, BECE, or just want to build confidence in class, I'll meet you where you are and help you grow — one solved problem at a time.
